Bryan Kevin Porter Jr also known by his initials KPJ, is an American professional basketball player for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Kevin Porter Jr has played four seasons in the league – one with the Cavaliers and the past three with the Rockets.

Kevin Porter Jr was born on May 4, 2000 in Seattle, Washington, to Ayanna and Bryan Kevin Porter Sr.
In July 2004, when Porter was four years old, his father was shot five times and killed while trying to help someone being attacked. As a result, he was raised by his mother, who became his role model.
He began his professional career in the NBA in 2019 after being the 30th overall pick in the first-round draft by the Milwaukee Bucks.
However, he was traded to the Clevland Cavaliers that year, and subsequently got traded to the Houston Rockets in 2021.
Before he began his professional career, he was considered a five-star recruit while he was in Rainier Beach High School, and was considered the highest-ranked player from Washington in the 2018 class.
Due to his pedigree at the time, he received college offers from UCLA, University of Washington, and University of Oregon. However, he ultimately decided to commit to USC.
In a game between the Houston Rockets and the Denver Nuggets on January 2, 2022, Kevin Prter Jr. left the court during halftime, and did not return to the court.
This occurred when he appeared upset after his assistant coach, John Lucas, challenged him after revisiting an incident that saw Kevin lose his composure on the bench in the first half of the game.

On September 11, 2023, Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested and charged by the New York Police Department for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick.
According to ABC News, Porter Jr. is in the New York Police Department’s custody. The incident occurred early morning on Monday at the Millenium Hotel in Times Square, Manhattan.
The player returned late from a party, which upset his girlfriend. Upon her refusal to let him in their room, Porter Jr. entered the room with the hotel security’s help. Porter was accused of beating up his girlfriend after he entered the room.
Porter, 23, was taken into custody on the scene and Kysre Gondrezick was taken to a hospital, according to the spokesperson. He was held on preliminary charges of second-degree assault and strangulation, NYPD said.
In a statement to CNN, NBA spokesperson Mike Bass said, “We are aware of the reports regarding Kevin Porter Jr. The league office is in contact with the Houston Rockets and in the process of gathering more information.”
