Funeral drive-by shooting which gravely wounded girl, 7, ‘linked to cartel’

This is the horrific moment a drive-by gunman opened fire on a memorial service, sending terrified mourners diving for cover.

The chilling footage shows a black car driving past at cruising speed, while a loud gunshot can be heard, followed by screams.

The rear window of the car was wound down and is believed to be where the thug fired a shotgun from, leaving a seven-year-old girl fighting for her life and five other people injured.

Pedestrians then run past the camera in the opposite direction, as shocked mourners sprinted to safety in panic.

A woman can be heard yelling “oh my God” repeatedly, while screams echoed through the streets within seconds of the brutal attack.

Cops have now confirmed that a 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over the vicious attack.

The man was arrested in Barnet, North London at around 4pm yesterday. The police statement also provided an update on the condition of the victims.

Three women, aged 21, 54 and 41, sustained non-life threatening injuries. A 48-year-old woman suffered injuries believed to be life-changing.

The seven-year-old girl remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

A video from inside the church where the memorial was taking place showed attendees scrambling to get out of the building.

One person shouted “we need to get out”, another said “get to the back” and a third told people to “sit down”.

Terrified mourners could be heard screaming in fear, while a woman wailed loudly for much of the video.

The person filming the ordeal was pushed this way and that as the crowd rushed for the door, fleeing to safety.

One woman can be heard calling out for someone named Isis, while a man shouted “wait, wait, wait” as the crowd crushed together.

The church’s pews were left empty and abandoned as those attending the service scrambled to get away from the gunfire.

They were among 350 mourners at a service to celebrate the lives of Colombian Fresia Calderon, 50, and her daughter Sara Sanchez, 20, who died within a month of each other.

The crime has now been linked with a Colombian drug cartel and one woman from the funeral told the Mail on Sunday: “People are saying the intended target of the shooting was a man who attended the service.

“There’s speculation that it was some sort of revenge attack.”

It emerged last night that Fresia’s late former husband Carlos Arturo Sanchez-Coronado was a convicted member of the notorious Cali drug cartel — sparking fears the attack was linked to his dodgy past.

The cartel featured in gritty Netflix gangster series Narcos.

Sanchez-Coronado, who died last year aged 56, was the first man extradited from the South American country to Britain.

Anyone who has information about the attack is encouraged to call 101 and quote reference 3357/14JAN.

Those who wish to report information anonymously can contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
